Machinery provided for Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital

Ministry of Health has begun providing machinery and equipment needed for Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. The government has plans to bring major changes to the services provided by the hospital, the ministry stated.

Government has now begun providing machinery to the hospital, including a computed tomography (CT) machine, according to Health Ministry. Moreover, health ministry has also begun seeking super specialists to consult at the hospital.

The government has decided to send doctors from IGMH every two weeks until doctors are permanently assigned to the largest hospital in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The government pledged to invest USD 3.19 million for the development of Kulhuduffushi Regional Hospital.

The development and the operation of the hospital was formerly handed to NIMS hospital before the ministry took over following a rift between local and international partners.

The 50-bed Kulhuduffushi Regional Hospital currently employs 12 specialist doctors.
