Over 12,000 re-registration forms submitted to elections commission

Elections Commission of Maldives has stated over 12,000 forms for re-registration have been submitted to date. On July 17, the elections commission opened opportunity to re-register to vote in an island other than the island a citizen is registered at. The electoral body has opened opportunity to re-register until August 11.
President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef said a huge support was received by the public for re-registration, adding so far 12 thousand 848 forms have been received by the commission. The electoral body has received some complaints regarding the forms, assuring the commission does not accept any other forms except the original forms, further revealed Ahmed Shareef. He said discussions are held within the commission to solve any issues regarding re-registration.
Elections commission has boosted preparations for the upcoming presidential election scheduled to be held on September 23.
