Foreign Minister sends Independence Day greetings to Vanuatu

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of felicitations to Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade of Vanuatu Ralph Regenvanu on the joyous occasion of the 38th Independence Day of Vanuatu.
In his message, Foreign Minister Asim conveyed warm felicitations and best wishes, on behalf of the government and the people of Maldives to the government and the people of Vanuatu. On conclusion, Minister Asim wished for further progress of Vanuatu.
In the 1880s, France and the UK claimed parts of Vanuatu, and in 1906, agreed on a framework for jointly managing the archipelago through an Anglo-French condominium. An independence movement arose in the 1970s, and the Republic of Vanuatu was founded in 1980.
