Over 37,000 forms received to re-register: Elections Commission

Elections Commission of Maldives has revealed it has received over 37,000 forms to re-register for the upcoming presidential election.
On July 17, the elections commission opened opportunity to re-register to vote in an island other than the island a citizen is registered at. The commission has given until August 11 to re-register at preferred ballot boxes, if different from their registered islands. The re-registration form must be submitted to the election commission with a copy of an official document such as the identity card or passport.
Speaking with PSM News, member of the commission Ahmed Akram stated re-registration process is ongoing and over 37,000 forms have been submitted to the commission, adding more forms are been sent from council offices in islands and consulates in other countries.
The 2018 presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
