President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, following the earthquake that hit Bali and Lombok.
In his message, President Abdulla Yameen said it was with profound sadness that he learned of the powerful earthquake, resulting in the devastating loss of lives, wounding many and causing widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure.
Further, on behalf of the government and people of Maldives, the president conveyed heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the government and the brotherly people of Indonesia. The president also conveyed especial commiseration to the members of the bereaved families and those directly affected by the tragedy.
At this time of national mourning and sorrow, he wished to affirm the government and the people of Maldives stand in firm solidarity with Indonesia and wished for the recovery efforts to be swift and successful.
