Parliamentary group leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has stated leader of Maldives Democratic Alliance (MDA) Ahmed Siyam is a faithful friend and a loyal partner of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The parliamentary group leader made the statement responding to rumours spread stating MDA and its leader Ahmed Siyam is joining the opposition movement.
In a tweet, Nihan said MDA-PPM coalition is strong, adding the coalition is working to secure a second term for President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Moreover, Nihan highlighted meetings with coalition leaders are also held accordingly.
After a successful presidential election in 2013, the PPM-MDA coalition also secured a majority in the general election held in 2014.
