Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun connecting pipe networks in Feydhoo, as part of the mega project to establish sewerage facilities in the joint islands of Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo and Feydhoo in Addu City.
As part of the project, a 38 kilometre sewerage network will be established in the joint islands. So far, 72% of the project has been completed, according to General Manager of MTCC Mohamed Husham. Moreover, Husham noted pipe networks have been connected to 220 households in Feydhoo and the rest of households will be connected to the system before the end of next week. Speaking about the project, Husham said 75% and 60% works of the gravity network has been completed in Feydhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo respectively.
As part of the project, MTCC will establish 6 pump stations in Addu City, which is expected to cater over 2,500 households of the joint islands. The project funded by OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) costs over USD 8.4 million and MTCC expects to complete the project before the end of August.
