Denying rumours by some opposition parties stating a South African information technology firm in China, Laxton Group Limited, is providing assistance for the presidential election; President of Elections Commission denied seeking any advice or using facilities of any foreign firm.
Moreover, the president of the electoral body revealed Laxton Group is a company which generates e-voting facilities, adding political parties were invited to hold discussions over the matter. However, Adam Shareef highlighted no political party responded to the invitation.
If any foreign assistance or facilities were to be used for the presidential election, prior discussions will be held with the advisory committee of the commission, added Shareef. He called on media outlets to refrain from spreading false information resulting in false accusations, adding legal action will be taken against such media outlets.
