Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of greetings to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Independence of Afghanistan.
In his message, Foreign Minister Asim extended warm felicitations and sincere good wishes to the government and the people of Afghanistan, on behalf of the government and the people of Maldives, on the joyous occasion of the Independence Day of Afghanistan.
On conclusion, the foreign minister said he remains confident the friendly relations existing between the two countries will further strengthen in the years ahead.
Independence Day is celebrated in Afghanistan on August 19 to commemorate the Anglo-Afghan Treaty of 1919 and relinquishment from protected state status.
