EC cautions Solih to refrain from using logo, colour of PPM

Elections Commission of the Maldives has advised Maldivian Democratic Party's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to refrain from using the logo and colour of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) without consent, in campaign activities. PPM has repeatedly claimed that MDP has been using the party's colour, logo and other material which signify PPM.

Speaking to PSM News, Secretary General of PPM, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel stated, MDP has been trying to create chaos in the country by misleading the citizens adding PPM lodged a request at the Elections Commission to stop the use of PPM campaign material by other parties.

Meanwhile, President of the Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef said, the commission has received complaints and has officially advised MDP to refrain from using such material. Moreover, the Elections Commission has advised all political parties to respect each other and to conduct a peaceful campaign.
