Increase in Hajj quota proves strong foreign policy: Islamic Minister

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad has stated the increase in Hajj quota provided by the government of Saudi Arabia to Maldives proves the strength of the foreign policy of Maldives.
Noting the relations between Saudi Arabia and Maldives have boosted in the past five years, Islamic Minister Ziyad highlighted the increase in Hajj quota each year proves the strong bond between the two countries. Initially, the Saudi Arabian government granted a quota of 1,000, which was later increased to a total of 2,000, upon request from the Maldivian government.
Moreover, the minister expressed efforts are underway to further increase the Hajj quota provided to Maldives in the coming years.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia were established in 1981.
