President must be given a second term in office: Environment Minister

Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has stated President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom must be given a second term as he has brought incomparable amount of development to the country in his first five years in office.
Addressing the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development and shore protection in Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Environment Minister Thoriq expression developing the island was neglected by previous administrations. The environment minister further stated the opposition caused disruptions and difficulties when the current administration commenced the airport development project in the island, adding development must be welcomed by the public despite political differences.
Furthermore, during the ceremony, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said opposition parliamentarians did not participate in any parliamentary vote to pass community beneficial development projects or to approve budgets. The housing minister slammed the opposition for criticising the development projects conducted by the government.
With road development and shore protection in Kulhudhuffushi now complete, the government is currently developing a domestic airport on the island. With a population of roughly 10,000 people, Kulhudhuffushi is the most populous island in northern Maldives.
