Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham has stated the all-inclusive policy initiated by the government has been a huge success. The students across Maldives accept the changes brought to the education system, Education Minister Aishath Shiham stated speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, lauding the success of the all-inclusive policy of the government.
Moreover, education minister highlighted the importance attached by the government towards providing education to students with special needs. The government has exerted major efforts to enhance the education provided for children with special needs in the past four years, noted Minister. In this regard, the government within its first 100 days in office established four centres to identify children with special needs at an earlier age.
During the programme, the minister noted the centres were established as a first step towards enhancing the education provided for such students. Noting providing education for children with special needs require qualified teachers, Minister Aishath Shiham revealed there were only 80 qualified teachers in 16 schools which provide special education when current government took office. However, the minister said the government has now arranged special education in all schools across Maldives, adding the all-inclusive policy is implemented in favour of every Maldivian family.
There are over 3,000 students seeking special education all across Maldives.
