President inaugurates sewerage services in Alifushi

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has assured to provide every Maldivian 18 years and above with housing and jobs within the next five years. Addressing the ceremony held in Alifushi in Raa Atoll, President Yameen stated it is important to establish ways to pay rent and live well along with all the housing projects.
In this regard, the president revealed within the first term, over 76,000 jobs were provided, announcing plans to generate more job opportunities in the coming days. Moreover, the president underlined that youth are jailed due to engaging in many socially unacceptable behaviours which were caused due to the lack of enough opportunities for the youth in the past. The president highlighted the importance attached by the government to empower the youth population in Maldives.
Highlighting the people always want progress and development, the president noted numerous efforts have been made for the progress of sectors like education and health during this presidential term. Noting that several efforts have also been made for the progress of the fisheries industry during his first term in office, the president said developing the fisheries sector will be a major focus for the next five years.
During the visit to Alifushi, President Yameen inaugurated the sewerage facilities in the island, by unveiling the monument placed to inaugurate the sewerage facilities. As part of the tour, the president is also scheduled to visit Ungoofaaru, Dhuvaafaru, Maduvvari and Kendhikulhudhoo in Raa Atoll.
