MMA advises caution on counterfeit USD banknotes

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has advised caution on counterfeit 50 US dollar and 100 US dollar banknotes which are in circulation.
In a statement, MMA stated all banks in operation in Maldives have been alerted about the counterfeit banknotes. MMA also urged to notify the bank if anyone come across a counterfeit banknote.
The central bank has been working intensely to prevent the circulation of counterfeit banknotes in Maldives. In this regard, a new banknote series for Maldivian Rufiyaa has been introduced with strong security features.
