License issued for international observers and monitors

Elections Commission of Maldives has issued the license to international observers and monitors to participate in observing the presidential election.
Speaking to PSM News, member of the elections commission Ahmed Akram stated a total of 85 international parties, which includes 34 monitors and 51 observers, adding the permission was granted for those who submitted all paperwork. It also includes the foreign parties which were invited by the elections commission, according to elections commission.
Moreover, electoral body revealed the list of monitors and observers will be published once the separate names of international organizations and non-governmental organizations are finalised. Elections commission stated the authority to observe and monitor the elections similar to local observers will be given to international observers.
All international parties who hold license will be required to obtain a business visa, according to a notice issued by the Maldives Immigration. The deadline for applying for a business visa for the purposes of observing and monitoring the Presidential Election 2018 is September 15.
