President sends message of condolence to Japanese Prime Minister

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, following the Typhoon Jebi and the strong earthquake that struck Hokkaido, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
In his message, President Abdulla Yameen said it was with profound sadness that he heard the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Jebi and the strong earthquake which struck Hokkaido. The president said, at this time of national sorrow, he would like to assure firm solidarity with the government and the people of Japan, as a close bilateral partner and a friend. He prayed for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people in overcoming the calamity, smooth running of the rescue and recovery operations and a speedy recovery for the injured.
On conclusion, the president conveyed sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
