Running mate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has expressed a president should be ambitious, wilful and virtuous, noting President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom maintains these qualities.
The leader of the country must be courageous and virtuous, the running mate of the ruling party said addressing the ceremony held at Meedhoo in Dhaalu Atoll, as part of the ongoing campaign efforts adding the importance of those qualities to maintain an independent nation. In this regard, Shaheem stated President Yameen has shown courage in facing the numerous challenges he had to overcome in the past five years.
Highlighting the rumours spread stating relations with foreign partners have weakened, Shaheem noted the state of the relations with other countries can only be assessed by people who have knowledge of the international arena. Shaheem expressed the administration has brought in more foreign investments and established ties with many countries, compared with previous administrations.
