Maldives Police Service has condemned the comments made by former President Mohamed Nasheed defaming the integrity of the police service.
In a press conference, Spokesperson of Police, Chief Superintendent Ahmed Shifan expressed concerns over the false statements made against Maldives Police Service by former President Mohamed Nasheed during a press conference with international media in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
In the press conference, Chief Superintendent said such allegations made by a former President aiming to tarnish the integrity of the hardworking police officers will result the public and international partners distrusting and create negative impressions against the Maldives Police Service, adding comments made when the voting day is so close with police officers diligently working to safeguard the peace and security of the nation.
On conclusion, he assured the public that no individuals other than qualified police officers would be working in the guise of the uniformed personnel, requesting all individuals to refrain from circulating such false stories, news or statements in public or in media.
