President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has decided to provide housing for all applicants, as part of Hiyaa, the largest social housing project to be conducted in Maldives.
Announcing the decision of the president at a ceremony held to launch the master plan of Hiyaa Accomplished Vilimale’ phase 2, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the president has instructed the administration to provide housing for all applicants, with 18,000 people already submitting application for the housing units. In this regard, housing units will be provided for all applications received until September 30, according to the minister. He revealed the housing units will be provided from Hulhumale phase 2. Hiyaa project was initiated to provide housing for a population of over 100,000 people.
The minister further added that upon completion of Hiyaa Accomplished Vilimale’ phase 2, the housing issues faced in Maldives would be solved.
