Swearing-in ceremony to be held at National Football Ground: MDP

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to hold the swearing-in ceremony of the Sixth President of the second Republic at the National Football Ground in Male' City. MDP made the decision in the wake of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requesting to include as many citizens as possible in the swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking on a programme aired by a local channel, the Chair of the Inauguration Committee and Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef revealed following the request of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the committee has decided to hold the swearing-in ceremony at the National Football Ground. Hassan Latheef revealed the national ground can hold a large number of people which would enable the participation of as many citizens in the ceremony and the celebrations.

Moreover, Hassan Latheef has stated 150 delegates including head of states, foreign ministers, mission heads, ambassadors and bilateral partners of Maldives will be invited to the ceremony. He further revealed invitations are being sent out with the assistance of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won the presidential election with over 58 percent of the votes cast.
