Elections Commission of Maldives has published the official results of the presidential election.
The information published by the Elections Commission shows the final result of all 472 boxes separately. In this regard, the final results published clearly shows the amount of votes received by two candidates separately from each box with the number of total votes and void votes.
The candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attained a massive win with 134,705 votes with 58.4% of the votes cast, according to the final results. Meanwhile, candidate of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), outgoing President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom received 96,052 votes which is 41.6% of the votes cast.
In the presidential election held on September 23, 262,135 had cast the votes while the voter turnout stood at 89%. Elections Commission stated 3,132 votes cast were void.
The final result of the election was announced on September 29.
