Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated the legal team of the party is being targeted with various threats following the submission of an election related case to Supreme Court.
In a statement, PPM said following the submission of a constitutional case regarding the presidential election, its legal team has been threatened on various occasions. PPM strongly condemned these threats stating such acts are unacceptable.
Noting even though various allegations are targeted at PPM members, or given death threats and defamed, PPM said their goal will not be achieved. PPM further called to refrain from spreading such lowly rumours.
Furthermore, PPM expressed if the threats are being driven by political party activists, those political parties must act upon it and bring an immediate stop to those threats. PPM called to uphold the values of democracy at all times.
Meanwhile, on conclusion, the statement assured the legal team of the party will exert efforts to protect the right of the party without stepping backwards, adding PPM is not hesitant to take action against such threats.
