Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of communicable diseases reported in September increased compared to August. The number of dengue, fever and cold reported to healthcare facilities increases every year in the monsoon season, according to HPA.
In this regard, in September about 30,000 people sought medical attention while most number of cases reported to HPA in September were of viral fever, according to HPA. Most of viral fever cases were reported from the capital Male' City, with about 6,700 cases reported, noted HPA.
Moreover, HPA revealed 244 cases were reported of dengue fever. The most number of dengue cases were reported from Male', Shaviyani Atoll and Raa Atoll.
Meanwhile, HPA said 56 patients tested for influenza virus while 5 patients sought treatments after being positive for the virus.
