Situation of information receiving and delivery is not acceptable: Information Commissioner

Information Commissioner of Maldives Abdul Azeez Jamal Aboobakuru has stated the situation of information receiving and delivery in the country is not acceptable.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Information Commissioner Abdul Azeez Jamal Aboobakuru revealed some government institutions still hesitate to provide information. Noting providing information in Dhivehi language must be prioritised, the information commissioner said authorities do not prioritise the Dhivehi language.

Moreover, the commissioner expressed the most important aspect of delivering information is to obstruct corruption adding if information are made public illegal acts will be minimised. Genuine information provided by the authorities will result in maintaining peace in the country and further enhance the economy, according to the commissioner.

Furthermore, he said with the efforts exerted by the government in the past four years, authorities are more aware and are seen cooperating more.
