Audit Office to conduct special audit on HDC

Auditor General's Office has decided to conduct an extensive audit on Housing Development Corporation (HDC) alleging illegal expenditures.

Auditor General's Office said a special audit of HDC is being conducted following a case submitted regarding illegal disbursements from HDC for the presidential campaign of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. A petition has been filed at Audit Office and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) by some staff of HDC. Audit Office noted efforts are underway to finalise the audit team and the plan or procedure to conduct the audit.

While, ACC and Audit Office have decided to conduct a special audit of HDC, the corporation has not yet commented on the matter.
