Transport Authority warns action against taxi drivers charging more

Maldives Transport Authority has warned action against taxi drivers charging more than allocated fare to cross the Sina-Male' Bridge.

Not more than USD 2.26 can be charged for a ride between Male' and Hulhule', while USD 2.59 can be charged for a trip between Male' and Hulhumale', according to rates fixed by Transport Authority.

The public have been expressing dissatisfaction as the fares allocated by the authority are disregarded by some taxi drivers. In this regard, some taxi drivers have been charging over USD 6.47 to Hulhule' and USD 12.94 to Hulhumale'.

However, the Transport Authority noted no passengers have filed complaints regarding the issue. Moreover, the authority have assured that all complaints filed will be investigated affirming to take action against such taxi drivers.
