Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has advised State Trading Organisation (STO) to refrain from activities that may pave way for corruption.
Complaints have been received highlighting actions that may pave way for corruption are being exercised by two of STO's subsidiary companies, STO Maldives Singapore Private Limited and Maldives National Oil Company Limited (MNOC), according to ACC.
ACC revealed it has asked STO to refrain from any such actions after reviewing the complaints. Noting Maldives is in the transitional period, ACC appealed to stop awarding projects, signing agreements, conducting financial transactions; which if carried out may pave way for corruption and create chaos. However, ACC said no specific projects by STO were mentioned to be stopped.
STO has assured to abide by all notices of government and independent authorities.
