Jumhooree Party opens opportunity to apply for party leader post

Jumhooree Party has opened opportunity to express interest for the post of leader of the party. The decision was made during a council meeting, with 61 members unanimously voting in favour, according to Jumhooree Party.

It is notable that a leader of the party was not appointed at the national congress held in August. Jumhooree party revealed a party leader was not appointed during the congress as no members expressed interest for the post. However, members were appointed to all other posts of the party. Currently, the party is run by the Deputy Leader Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.

Previously, Qasim Ibrahim was the leader of the party. However, he was dismissed from the post when the Criminal Court of Maldives found him guilty of bribery charges and issued a jail sentence, which was nullified by the High Court of Maldives yesterday.
