Philippines Embassy in Maldives has held a gender awareness and development programme on labour-related concerns for Philippine nationals working in Maldives.
The training programme was participated by Ministry of Gender and Family, Maldives Police Service, Maldives Immigration and other government authorities. Meanwhile, a large number of Philippine nationals also attended the information session.
During the progamme, a special book compiled by the Philippine Embassy regarding violence against women was handed over to gender ministry. Moreover, participants were given information on how to report such cases.
Speaking at the session, Minister of Gender and Family Zeneesha Shaheed Zaki highlighted the importance of the collective efforts to eliminate all types of violence. Every woman has the right to live and work in a safe environment free from abuse and violence, added the minister.
