MNDF begins to drain water following heavy flooding in Male'

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has begun to drain water following heavy flooding in Male' City.

Spokesperson Captain Ibrahim Azim revealed MNDF began to drain water following the damage caused to the storm water pump stations established in the capital city. MNDF said flood draining is conducted in two locations of Male'.

Fairly widespread rain with a few heavy showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in central and southern atolls, according to Maldives Meteorological Service and scattered showers are expected over northern atolls. Surface winds will be west/north-westerly at 5-15 mph in northern atolls and southwest/westerly at 10-20 mph elsewhere. Winds may gust to 35 mph during showers. Seas are expected to be slightly rough in northern atolls and moderate over rest of the country.
