Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated the stormwater pump stations established in Male' City has been vandalised.
In a tweet, Housing Minister Muizzu alleged some panel boards of the stormwater pump systems has also been purposely damaged and the electricity supply to some of the pumps interrupted. The stormwater system was designed to completely drain water 3 hours after flooding, according to the housing minister.
In 2014, the government began establishing the systems in the capital city to solve the flooding issues during the rainy season.
