On behalf of the incoming government, Ministry of Finance and Treasury has submitted a state budget of over USD 1,877 billion for 2019.
While details regarding the proposed budget have not been revealed, the finance ministry had earlier stated it had requested the President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to formulate the budget for 2019. At a press conference held on Tuesday, Spokesperson for the President-Elect Mariya Ahmed Didi revealed the budget formulated by the incoming government would be submitted to the ministry today.
The proposed state budget for the coming year should be submitted to parliament two months prior to the end of the fiscal year, which falls on October 31, according to the Public Finance Act.
Parliament passed a USD 1.748 billion state budget for 2018.
