Thinadhoo Council concerned of duration for complaints filing

Thinadhoo Island Council has said the amount of time given to file complaints on the interim list of recipients for the 120 housing units is not enough. Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has given a period of four days to file complaints. Many complaints are filed regarding the list, revealed island council, adding the period given is not enough.

President of Thinadhoo Council Ibrahim Assad stated the council does not believe the time given is enough to process all the complaints. Assad further assured the council fully cooperated with the ministry during the period given to assess the living standards of the applicants.

Moreover, the council highlighted the ministry did not provide information about the 15 flats to be sold for business purposes to increase the finances of the council. The housing ministry opened application for the Thinadhoo housing units in 2016. However, the interim list was published after two years.

The government had constructed 80 A category flats, 25 B category flats and 15 C category flats in Thinadhoo.
