Parliament Secretariat has begun issuing salaries and allowances for 12 reinstated parliamentarians for the period they were barred from attending parliament sittings.
Speaking to PSM News, one of the 12 parliamentarians stated salaries have been reimbursed for some members from the date it was decided they lost the seat until the Supreme Court order eliminating the decision. The parliamentarian further revealed rest of the parliamentarians will also be reimbursed with salaries and allowances starting from Sunday. Moreover, he added even though salaries have been issued, committee allowances have been blocked as the former parliament speaker had not signed the documents.
Each of the 12 parliamentarians is expected to receive over USD 65,000 dollars as salaries and allowances for a period of about 1 and half years.
