Chief Justice and Parliament Speaker have sent greetings on the 50th Republic Day.
Chief Justice Dr. Abdulla Didi and Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim sent greetings on the republic day to all Maldivians. Meanwhile, cabinet ministers and parliamentarians have also sent republic day greetings.
Maldives first became a Republic on January 1, 1953. However, it lasted for seven months and a few days. On November 11, 1968 Maldives was declared as a republic.
