President-Elect announces the new government structure

President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the new government structure. The structure of the new government was announced by Spokesperson of President-Elect, Mariya Ahmed Didi at a press conference.

The new structure will consist of 19 ministries with 4 new ministries introduced, stated Mariya Ahmed Didi. The spokesperson said while some names of the ministries will be changed, some ministries will be tasked with more responsibilities and change in mandate.

The new ministries introduced are Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage and Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology.

Mariya revealed the new ministries are introduced to focus on much neglected areas and to develop those areas. Mariya stated while names of 3 ministries will be changed, 5 ministries will be mandated with more work with 7 ministries remain unchanged. Moreover, she expressed the cabinet ministers will be appointed after extensive discussions with the joint coalition.

The current government contains of 14 ministries.
