40% of PSIP budget to address maritime transportation difficulties

Government has allocated 40% of the budget proposed for Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) to find solutions to solving maritime transportation difficulties.

While 96 projects related to solving maritime transportation difficulties have been included in the PSIP Budget, USD 168 million would be spent on this. While USD 427 million has been allocated in the PSIP Budget, USD 304 million has been allocated for ongoing projects and USD 123 million has been allocated for 229 infrastructure development projects which have been scheduled for next year. The PSIP Budget has been divided into 12 sectors.

40.1% of the PSIP Budget has been allocated for solving maritime transportation difficulties, 19.7% has been allocated for projects related to sewerage facilities, 9% has been allocated for health and social welfare, 7.7% for environmental projects and 4.9% for housing. Other sectors included under PSIP are; education, construction of mosques, fisheries and agriculture.
