Payments from pilgrims used solely for pilgrimage purposes

Maldives Hajj Corporation has assured the payments made by citizens for Hajj pilgrimage were not used for any other purposes. In a statement, Hajj Corporation said the salary and recurrent expenses are not spent from the payments made by pilgrims, adding the payments are deposited to a separate bank account of the corporation.

Furthermore, the corporation reiterated only the direct expenses of pilgrims are covered from the amount paid by pilgrims. Hajj Corporation revealed even though hajj expenses were increased within the past five years in Saudi Arabia, the corporation has maintained a lower price for Maldivians.
