Criminal Court releases Sri Lankan sniper

Criminal Court of Maldives has dislodged the case of the Sri Lankan sniper arrested on suspicion of plotting to assassinate former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Along with the Sri Lankan national, Criminal Court also extricated the case of Fazeel Hameen and Ishaaq Hussain who were also arrested on the same charges. The cases were dislodged due to lack of enough information.

Arrested in 2015, Sri Lankan national, Lahiru Madhushankar, was accused of being a highly trained sniper paid by former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb to assassinate President Yameen.
