Budget Reviewing Committee of Parliament has passed the proposed USD 427 million budget for Public Service Investment Programme (PSIP) of the government. The proposed budget was passed after bringing some amendments with the votes of 13 from the 15 parliamentarians present at the committee.
During the debate on the proposed budget, parliamentarians noted the importance of completing the PSIP projects commenced by the past government and recommended to include those projects in the budget.
Moreover, during the committee process, parliamentarians said it is important to seek grant aid from foreign countries for PSIP projects, adding it is mostly possible at the early stage of a new government. Parliamentarians representing the government assured President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will complete the ongoing projects, initiated by the previous government.
