No-confidence motion against PG Bisham withdrawn

The no-confidence motion submitted to the parliament against Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham has been withdrawn.

The no-confidence was submitted to the parliament by Parliamentarian Ahmed Abdulla. However, he had not revealed why the motion was withdrawn. Ahmed Abdulla filed the no-confidence motion against Bisham accusing the chief prosecutor of failing to perform her duties without undue influence. He highlighted her failure to exercise powers as an independent state official when several lawmakers were detained.

Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham, appointed in 2015, formerly served as the Attorney General.
