Foreign Minister calls on Indian President, Defence Minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has called on President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

During the call, the Indian President welcomed Minister Shahid to India on his first visit. The minister thanked the president for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to him, and his delegation, and conveyed greetings and good wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Highlighting the strong bilateral ties between India and Maldives, the minister reaffirmed the commitment of President Solih, to renew and further strengthen the relationship between India and Maldives. The minister assured India is the closest and most trusted neighbour and partner of Maldives.

Moreover, Foreign Minister Shahid met with the Minister of Defence of India Nirmala Sitharaman. Minister Nirmala welcomed Minister Shahid and exchanged the views on further strengthening the defence corporation between the two countries and committed to work together.
