Adeeb to be transferred to his residence upon doctors' recommendations

Maldives Correctional Service has granted permission to transfer former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb to his residence, upon the advice of doctors treating him.

Adeeb, who has been serving a 33-year jail sentence, was admitted in hospital due to complications caused by kidney stones. Although his wife, Mariyam Nashwa, revealed Adeeb will be transferred to his residence, Maldives Correctional Service has not officially confirmed her statement.

This is not the first time medical professionals have instructed the institution to let the former vice president attain medical attention and be transferred to his residence. The medical board of the Maldives Correctional Service has recommended he received medical care in his residence for a duration of three weeks.

Further, Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) had also made a recommendation to that effect.
