Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited the government’s children’s shelters. In this regard, the vice president visited Kudakudhinge Hiyaa in Villimale’ and Fiyavathi in Hulhumale’. Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef accompanied the vice president during the visits.
During the visit, the vice president met with the staff and management of the government shelters where he thanked and appreciated the work of the staff, highlighting the load carried by the staff. Moreover, the vice president supported the efforts of the staff, noting their share in developing youth of the country. The facilities of the government shelters need to be enhanced, according to the vice president.
There are over 130 children living under government guardianship. Meanwhile, the government has pledged to make it easier for families to take children under state care into foster care.
