Adhaalath Party confident President will respect coalition agreement

Adhaalath Party has expressed confidence President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will fully abide to the agreement of the joint coalition.

Attaching the agreement signed with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Adhaalath Party tweeted and assured the agreement signed with the coalition parties is still in effect.

However, the main party in the government coalition, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to contest for all 87 constituencies in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The decision has created confusion among the public, resulting in criticism against MDP on social media platforms. The agreement including with Adhaalath Party was made with three other parties and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

It was agreed that MDP will get 35 constituencies, Jumhooree Party will get 22 constituencies, Adhaalath Party will get 13 constituencies and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom will get 17 constituencies of the parliament, according to the leaked agreement signed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef.

In accordance with the aforementioned agreement, Adhaalath party have announced it will contest for 13 constituencies in the parliamentary elections.
