The administration does not believe in isolation: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has underscored his administration does not believe in success of international endeavours whilst maintaining a policy of isolation from the outside world.

In the letter sent to Secretary General of Commonwealth Patricia Scotland expressing interest to re-join The Commonwealth, the president expressed eagerness to utilise the country's experiences as a small island developing state that has recently undergone a peaceful transfer of power, to contribute to important global discussions encompassing such issues as democratic consolidation, and the dangers posed by environmental degradation and climate change.

The current administration has commenced efforts to enhance relations with other countries, including expressing interest to re-join The Commonwealth.
