ACC orders authorities to recover lost funds

Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives (ACC) has ordered government authorities to recover over USD 142 million that has gone missing from the state.

In a statement, citing 27 cases were investigated in the first 9 months of the year, ACC noted over USD 142 million has not been received to the state. The retrieval of USD 116.5 million is noted in the cases submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office, according to the statement.

ACC further revealed the state had received only USD 3,500 from the amount the commission had asked the authorities to recover.
