Maldives and the US hold discussions about enhancing cooperation between both countries on potential priority areas such as public financial management, rule of law, human rights and good governance. The discussions took place during the courtesy call by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia at the Bureau for South and Central Asian Affairs David Ranz call on Minister of Foreign of Maldives Abdulla Shahid.
During the meeting, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ranz also expressed the readiness of the government of US in working closely with the government of Maldives to implement the 100-day agenda of the current administration and briefed the US government is working with the relevant stakeholders to design programmes that complement the development and the reform agenda of the government of Maldives.
Minister Shahid also conveyed the government’s wish to establish contacts with academic institutions in the United States to sustain long term relationships for youth development.
