President appoints Masthoor Husnee to JSC

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Masthoor Husnee to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The appointment was made under Article 158, subsection (h) of the Constitution of Maldives and Article 3, subsection (8) of the Judicial Service Act. President Solih presented the letter of appointment to Masthoor Husnee at a ceremony held at the President's Office.

Prior to the presentation of the letter of appointment, Masthoor Husnee took the oath of membership of JSC. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef. Upon his appointment, Masthoor Husnee will be the representative of the president at JSC.

The position was formerly filled by Ahmed Saleem, who was appointed by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. President Solih dismissed Saleem from JSC on December 3.
